Indoor Reserved Grooming

Just steps from both indoor & outdoor rings!
Blacktop walkway from grooming to rings!
Reserved grooming space is in a heated/cooled building.
Plenty of electrical outlets will be available.

Access to electrical plugs is not exclusive and will not be reserved or guaranteed. Parking is NOT included in reserved grooming fee. Reserved space is limited & reservations received after the allotted space is filled will be returned. Reservations are for Wednesday starting at 1:00 pm through Sunday. No partial day reservations will be accepted. Reservations must include a check for the correct amount. Checks should be made payable to the Eagle Rock Kennel Club, Inc. No reservation confirmations will be mailed. The Eagle Rock Kennel Club, Inc. reserves the right to assign all the reserved grooming spaces. No dogs will be left overnight in the reserved grooming spaces or the grooming building.

All grooming set-ups will be available starting at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Some spaces may be irregular due to poles or walls & must be accepted. Reserved grooming fees are $60.00 for an approximate 8 ft x 10 ft area. Exhibitors & dogs must be out of the grooming area by 9:00 pm each evening & can enter the grooming area at 6:00 am Thursday through Sunday. Up to 2 spaces per reservation form, no more than 2 reservation forms per envelope for a total of 4 spaces.

ALL Grooming buildings must be vacated a maximum of 1 hour after Best in Show on Sunday. NO EXCEPTIONS.

- When did you begin your “life” in dogs?
- I always wanted a dog but could not have one as a child. My life with dogs began when I graduated college and got Scooter, a companion Scottie. My life in dogs, began in 1982 with the purchase of my foundation bitch Maggie McMuffin V. Winning with her got me hook. Winning more with her children, turned me into a long-term conformation fancier.
- What was your original breed or activity in the sport?
- My original breed was Scottish Terriers. My mother said I wanted one from the time I was four years old. But I didn’t get a conformationally sound one until 1982.
- What other breed(s) have you bred and shown?
- I also have shown & bred border terriers, smooth fox terriers and wire dachshund. I have shown Bearded Collies, Cairn Terriers, standard poodle, and an affenpinscher.
- What would you say is/are the most exciting and/or fulfilling experience(s) you have had in your ‘dog’ career?
- I have been blessed by having great people help me reach my goals in dogs. A highlight has been going BIS with my Scottish Terriers at the four largest shows in the world, Westminster, Crufts in England, The EuroAsia show and Benelux World Show with Scottish Terriers I have owned and bred. The most fulfilling event for me, was personally showing my Scottish Terrier BIS BISS McVan’s Big Bopper in the group at Montgomery County last year.

- When did you begin your “life” in dogs?
- I had a pet Pekingese while growing up and then began breeding and showing around 1972. It’s the only breed I’ve bred or shown. At the moment I’m a retired Professor of Music from James Madison University—-a former professional flutist with the Baltimore Symphony. I’ve had many exciting experiences with my dogs and judging as I have judged in England, Scotland, France, Korea and most recently, China. I love the dogs and always enjoy being with people who feel the same about the sport.

- When did you begin your “life” in dogs?
- In 1965 we go our first Pug and two years later got or first Borzoi, showing both breeds in conformation and obedience [put a CH UD on our first Borzoi]. With our Borzoi we open field coursed, and help start lure coursing.
- What was your original breed or activity in the sport?
- When I was 10, I got my first dog "Chips" a mixed spaniel type dog. Then I got a smooth coated dachshund.
- What other breed(s) have you bred and shown?
- Have owned Belgian Sheepdogs, Labrador Retrievers, Dachshunds, Whippets, Border Terriers, Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Papillion.
- What would you say is/are the most exciting and/or fulfilling experience(s) you have had in your ‘dog’ career?
- Putting the first CH, UD on a male Borzoi in history of the breed. And as a judge, in 2006 I got to judge more than 100 Pugs at the Northern California Pug Club Specialty show.

- When did you begin your “life” in dogs?
- 1966
- What was your original breed or activity in the sport?
- Poodles
- What other breed(s) have you bred and shown?
- None, only Poodles
- What would you say is/are the most exciting and/or fulfilling experience(s) you have had in your ‘dog’ career?
- I think each time is an exciting and fulfilling experience in my "dog" career. I have judged our Poodle National twice and will be judging Juniors this year. I enjoy mentoring for the Pee Wee event as it is the most fun I have at a dogshow. I enjoy the dogs and the exhibitors who take the time for me to go over their dogs and evaluate them to the best of my ability. Without the breeders and exhibitors there would not be a dogshow.

- When did you begin your “life” in dogs?
- I was fortunate to grow up in a family that showed dogs and helped my Mother with her Keeshonden and later, Bichons, Italian Greyhounds and Smooth Fox Terriers. I bought my first Kees in 1966 and began a life long passoin for training and showing dogs.
- What was your original breed or activity in the sport?
- Keeshond
- What other breed(s) have you bred and shown?
- Shelties and Poodles...both Toys and Minis. Border Collie. Pekingese (and yes I showed him in obedience). He earned a CDX!!
- What would you say is/are the most exciting and/or fulfilling experience(s) you have had in your ‘dog’ career?
- As an exhibitor, every Utility Dog title (UD) is precious. As a judge, I especially enjoy having junior handlers walk in my ring. Our juniors hold the key to the future of our sport.

Directions to the Blackfoot Cluster Shows

From North:
Travel I-15 to Exit 93, turning east toward Blackfoot. Follow signs to the Eastern Idaho State Fair Grounds, but get in the left lane for approximately 1/3 mile as the road will curve to the left. Go right onto Judicial Street. Travel approximately .9 miles, turning left onto West Main (Highway 91) and stay in the left lane. Go approximately ½ mile and you will see fairgrounds on the left. Make 1st left after fairgrounds onto Highland, them make immediate left onto Jones Street following Jones Street for 1/3 mile, entrance is on left.

From South:

Alternate Route from South:
Travel I-15 to Exit 89. Turn north to Highway 91 toward Blackfoot. After 2 miles, you will enter Blackfoot. The road will widen to 2 lanes, stay in the left lane. After approximately 1 mile, the road will curve right then back left. You will go straight through 2 traffic lights. After approximately ½ mile, the fairgrounds will be on the left. Make the 1st left past the fairgrounds onto Highland. Make an immediate left onto Jones Street and follow for approximately 1/3 mile, and the entrance will be on the left.

The following hotels will accept exhibitors and their dogs. It is understood that dogs will not be left unattended in the room. In making reservations, please state that you have a dog, as some hotels have set aside an area for these guests.
